I’ve never seen myself going to a big university, but I want to be an accountant. It’s something that always interested me. I know it’s a career in business, but if I choose not to go to a university to study for it, how will that affect my job possibilities? I want to go to a smaller college. If I get a a good GPA; 3.5+ it shouldn’t hurt me too much, right?

Looks like you are in Australia. I believe it is quite similar to Canada which is where my experience is from.
A lot of people working at the “big 4″ don’t even get business degrees, however after graduating university or college, they get a “Diploma in Accounting” this will allow you to get all the pre-requisite courses to start your studies at an accounting firm, it will also generally put you on the same playing field as people who have gone to the “bigger name” universities.

You can get a good accounting education from a small college with a business program but it will not get you in with the Big Wall Street type firms. It should be accepted by normal companies and smaller accounting firms.
