Basing on what is happening in the world today i.e. in terms of technology, conflicts, politics, etc what do you expect to see in the future?

… It depends on how far we want to go.

100 years from now, I expect to see different superstates that are not the USA or Great Britain. USA and Great Britain may have some influence, but not the influence they once had. China and India will rise into power this century among many other countries.

The population will increase much more and maybe to the point where it actually gets bad. Or not enough room for everyone. But then again there could be a disease that wipes out a considerable amount of people, so who knows?

There will still be poverty in Africa, but I think conditions will slowly get better. It won’t be as bad.

Yes, I do see a female US president someday, but whether she is bad or not is not because of her gender. There have been bad male presidents. And I don’t think that will shock 70% of the male population. They just don’t want there to be a female president.

I expect to see more “green” technology and less on fossil fuels. I see a new job market in green technology in the future. More countries are going to get into this.

There may be an agreement in North America that is like the EU. I know a lot of people don’t agree with it, but I think that will happen within the next century.

I think the problems in the Middle East is going to continue for another decade or more. Not much more to say on that.

I think the future is going to be both good and bad.

What do you mean, “if”? Why just yesterday, I traveled 24 hours into the future. And I expect to do it again tomorrow.

The future will be like the past. That’s because in the past, the future was like the present. Or is the other way around?

We would see the impending merger/collision between our Milky Way Galaxy and the Andromeda Galaxy. The Andromeda is barreling along at 300,000 mph, while our Milky Way galaxy is hurling thru space at 600,000 mph. They WERE 2 million light years apart, and it is estimated that in 2 billion years they will either collide or merge into one big elliptical galaxy.

Although our Milky Way galaxy has cannibalized smaller galaxies in the past, this differs in that both are large spiral galaxies, so the black holes in the center of both galaxies will attract each other and interact. The interstellar gases will be highly compressed, giving birth to new stars. Whether this is a violent event and how it will affect our solar system is presently unknown. However, computer simulations have been developed to examine the various scenarios which may occur.

In the meantime, it behooves us to begin the process of terraforming all of the 170+ moons in our Solar System, in anticipation of this galactic event. Our Solar System will most likely be ejected further out from galactic center. The worst case scenario is being sucked into the black hole. By building above-ground and under-ground cities on other moons and on Mars, we will be able to spread out and preserve the living things that are priceless to our species’ survival.

-Everyone will have Blu – ray and think its crap.

-If Aliens aren’t discovered, the world will blow itself up OR instead of offense, people will focus on defense in the world. (laser satellite that shoots down any nukes that are coming)

-It’ll be hot as hell in the future.

-We’ll have a female president, shocking 70% of the male population.

-People will look back and wonder how the hell we lived when our lives clearly “sucked” in their point of view.

    - Justin Bieber will hit puberty and shi…take mushrooms will hit the roof.

-people will expect to die in 2012,… nothing happens, nothing changes, people will feel stupid, then people will rave about how the spawn of satan will come in 2014 to destroy the world.

Don’t take this too seriously, because I didn’t…
It sounded funnier in my head.
    but:
-human-kind might actually have a really bright future despite what so many people think.

as the manufacturing harshly goes on and on on earth the sources would eventually end as most of them are finite and not recyclable. i think people in the future will have good access to the planet Mars and use its resources, but also some people might have a job that they are obliged to live there, in any kind of station that gets backed up priorly, and work on extracting the minerals or whatever. this “future” is not too far beyond our grasp, it might happen in the next century

The Cubs still not winning the World Series.

  7. Bryan says:

I think the odds are good that we will have destroyed ourselves within a hundred years.

Our weapons are much more powerful than our medicines. Soon, many people all over the world will have technological capability to make weapons that can destroy us all- I am thinking Bio Weapons for the most part.

I would like to think that we can transcend our violent natures and overcome, but I doubt it.
