Hey everyone! I was just wondering how to set up TVersity to run on my ps3. I don’t know how to open up a port from my router/firewall, or even how to check if it’s open. The ps3 just won’t find TVersity. Do I need to play the file for it to actually stream videos to the ps3? The program opens and when I click start sharing it says “The TVersity media server is already running or the service cannot be started.” So, yeah. I’m streaming an Xvid video. Will I have to convert it?
Thanks guys. Much Appreciated.

The PS3 will play Xvid and Dvix but I am pretty sure that it will only play Xvid from the local hard drive, and doesn’t work if you stream it. I haven’t personally tried it yet, so I can’t tell you for sure, but if it gives you some problems, try converting it to Dvix or putting it on the local drive by copying the folder.
The PS3 was hard for me to get set up on TVersity, it would sometimes connect and sometimes it wouldn’t connect. If you are running a PC, the easiest thing is to update to Windows Media Player 11, and share the files from there. It has always connected for me and works the best.
As to port forwarding and opening ports. In Windows, go to the Windows (or third party) firewall and add those ports the accepting side (or just shut off the firewall, but it is best to leave it on). Second, for the router, go to your router’s ip address (one simple way to find it, if you don’t know it, would be to search the router’s name and model number on google with the term ip address, a second more advanced, but still very easy way, would be to go to start>run, type cmd, click run, type ipconfig at the command line, look at the result under default gateway, change the last value to 1 and type it into your browser).
