I don’t know anything about it, except I went to a salt mine in Europe. Things to consider are:
    1) The transportation needed to get the workers into & out of the mine; does it pollute?
    2) Taking out the natural resource; will it cause eventual collapse of the caves it’s in?
    3) Does the industry attract workers to the area, who then need water & other things, contributing to a drain on the ecosystem, there?
    4) Do the people & the industry interfere with native species in the area?
    5) Taking the salt & distributing it; does that use trucks or planes & pollute & use other resources like gasoline?
