No, you don’t need to know how to act professionally. You should be prepared to spend an entire day (or more) at the job and not get paid very much. You will probably be told what to bring as far as clothing — unless you are an extra in a Jane Austen film or something where there’s no way you’d have an outfit already. In most cases, you just walk on a street or sit in a restaurant scene, etc. In other cases, you may be asked to “talk” to a main character (you won’t actually be heard or have lines. It’s more like in the scenes where the boy longingly watches the girl he likes from across the cafeteria and the girl is talking with an anonymous friend and laughing) or have some random role (like middle-aged father-type extras might end up walking a bride down the aisle if the father had no other role in the movie).

An extra is usually part of a crowd scene and so acts totally normally and pretending to not notice the camera. Do not pay any money. If you are asked for money to sign up or enroll, it is most likely a scam
