Hello everyone,

I would like to know if there is a ”tax” to pay to go kayaking (with my own kayak) at the Great Barrier Reef, being this zone a marine protected area.

Sorry for the strange question and the possible grammar mistakes. I hope you understand what I mean.

No good to kayak as first there are crocs in the sea around where you put your kayak in all around Cairns area then the reef is quite a distance out. You can take a tour around Hamilton Island would be nice

You need to access the GBR by boat ( a large boat, not just a kayak), as it’s too far from shore. Also kayaking around the reef would not be a good idea as you may bump the delicate coral with the oars.
