I’m a high school senior, and I decided that I want to major in accounting when I go to college. But the problem is a lot of schools I’m looking at don’t offer accounting as a major. They have business instead. I want to be a CPA, can I do this by becoming a business major? Can someone please help me with this? Help is greatly appreciated.
I think I want to start in public accounting but then move on to some other corporate job. I’m very interested in human resources and think I’d be good at that but I also want to make good money.
for example my course says i must major in one of the following finance, accounting, marketing, decision science, international economics and a few more. if i decide to do a major, will i hav to sill study all the other areas?
you can answer based on your own knowledge of courses you have done, this question applies to all degrees

for the most part yes, having a business degree means a having a complete business background. sometimes classes are tailored for specific majors, like business statistics for econ majors is a different set up than business statistics for accounting majors. here is a link for argosy university online courses & the courses required for their whole business program.

Finance.
You could be a banker. They all make good money.
By the time you graduate, all this banking crisis crap will be over with, and there will be new regulations, rules, and what-nots to figure out. Perfect for a young, energetic go-getter with an Accounting / Finance pedigree like you to cut your teeth on.
When looking for a college to attend, you should be looking for a school that offers the program that you want. If that school doesn’t offer that program, then keep looking. Their are thousands of schools to choose from. Accounting is a great career. Study hard. Good Luck.
Here is a good website I went to look up colleges when I was in your position.

If the business program offers a concentration in accounting then it’s okay. If they don’t (and not all do) then it would NOT be acceptable for your goals.
